New Chevy Corvette ZR1 Goes on Sale in Spring 2018
What is the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1?
While many manufacturers are widely known by name alone, it takes a truly special vehicle to have the same kind amount of recognition. However, of course, one of the most popular model names that sticks out on its own is the Corvette. Chevy’s iconic sports car continues to grow its legacy every year as more editions of the legendary vehicle continue to release. Due to the latest Corvette announcement from the automaker, exactly what is the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1?
One of the first things fans of Corvette will be sure to notice is that this new ZR1 is also available as a convertible. In fact, this is the first ZR1 drop-top model since the Corvette’s inaugural ZR1 model back in 1970. Planned to go on sale in the spring of 2018, the new Corvette ZR1 coupe and convertible will be available with the starting MSRP of $119,995 and $123,995 respectively.
Features and Specs of the new Corvette ZR1
Powering the new ZR1 is an exclusive LT5 6.2-liter supercharged engine, capable of generating an incredible 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque. This is then paired with either a 7-speed manual transmission or a paddle-shift 8-speed automatic transmission.
Thanks to features such as the ZR1’s aero package and standard stanchion-mounted Low Wing, the additional downforce helps the Corvette reach a top speed of 212 mph. However, an adjustable High Wing is also available for purchase for an additional $2,995. This High Wing features a front splitter with carbon-fiber end caps, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, as well as Magnetic Ride Control tuning to offer up to 950 lbs of downforce for better grip around corners. While this High Wing will make the top speed of the ZR1 lower, it can still exceed 200 mph with it equipped.
